Overview
Liquidation is the process of formally closing a company and distributing its assets to relevant parties. During liquidation, the company will be taken over and managed in a way that benefits both creditors and shareholders.
A liquidator (usually a licensed accountant) will be appointed to handle the liquidation process. The liquidator will assume full control of the company’s operations, collect outstanding receivables, and sell off company assets.
The proceeds will first be used to settle debts owed to creditors. Any remaining balance will be distributed to shareholders according to Section 527 of the Companies Act 2016.
